| BACKGROUND | ||
|
In April of 2006, Living Word adopted the village of Sendafa, Ethiopia, about 40kms north east of the capital, Addis Ababa. The population is approximately 15,000. As a local church, our vision is to impact one entire village with the compassion of Christ. The village is about 85% Ethiopian Orthodox, about 10-15% Muslim and about 2-3% evangelical. (Solid statistics are hard to come by.) Locally, we call our non-governmental organization (NGO), Project Adopt A Village, or “PAAV” for short. Our initial vision is a 7-year commitment. Our financial commitment is approximately $75,000 per year. We have hired 5 incredibly sharp, Jesus-committed, compassionate Ethiopians to be our full time staff. They all live in Addis Ababa and commute one hour to Sendafa. |
