French Student Hosting FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be a host family?

-  A couple with children, teenagers if possible, but this is not mandatory

-  A couple without children (or the children are adults no longer living with) and one of the parents would be at home

-  A single parent with at least one child living at home, preferably a teenager

Can I host if I am single?

We're sorry, but a single person without children cannot host a student for safety issues.

Does my student need to have his or her own bedroom?

Not at all. Either an individual bedroom or a shared bedroom with one of the children of the family of the same sex and roughly the same age is just fine.

Can my student sleep in the living room?

No. A student cannot stay in a rollaway cot in the middle of a den or on couch in the living room. We want the student to have some privacy and pleasant rest.

Can my student be at home alone?

Students cannot be left alone during non- planned activity hours.  Someone must be home (an adult) when the student is home.

What if I we want to go on vacation out of town?

With prior permission students can also accompany families on vacation out of the PA area.

Who do I speak to if I want to host a student?

If you or someone you know is interested in hosting a French student this summer, please let us know as soon as possible!  Many times students are added to the trip at the last minute so we are looking for more than the required number of families in order to have a back-up list.  You can contact us at: Mary Lou Grill:  E-mail:  lougrill@yahoo.Com / Phone:  717 755-2334 (coordinator)

THANK YOU!!!  Please feel free to share this information with anyone or any group
you feel would have an interest in helping!

(This would be a great project for your growth group to commit to!)
